Trexm at WAIPEC

A representative of Trexm attended the West African International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (WAIPEC)

The theme of the event was; Sustaining Oil & Gas Production Through Innovation & Collaboration. The aim was to instigate a collaboration between the oil-producing countries in West Africa that are beginning to excavate for oil and discover oil deposits. Each West African Country presented the developments and challenges of their respective Oil & Gas industries. As the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry is far more advanced compared to those of the other West African Countries, Nigeria takes the lead in the innovative collaboration to sustain and improve the Oil & Gas industry in the region.

The conference was attended by top management members of key IOC’s like SHELL, TOTAL, and EXXON MOBIL, along with other EPC companies, as well as the National Oil Companies of other neighbouring West African Countries like, UGANDA, IVORY COAST, GHANA, LIBERIA and GAMBIA.

Emphasis was placed on better management of Oil Production in Nigeria & West Africa with the imperative to set up refineries in Nigeria and revamping existing refineries. In the light of this, the Nigerian Government has given licence to Dangote to build its own refinery which is aimed at producing 15,000 barrels of fuel oil per day, this is to complement the existing production of the various refineries currently operating in Nigeria.

Local content development was addressed and it was advised that the countries collaborate with each other and be allowed to do business outside their territories without the constraint of local policies. This collaboration would allow for quick growth and development in the West African countries as well as positively boost their economies.
