TREXM Drives Early Climate Action Through Student-Led Tree Planting Initiative in Lagos
TREXM Holdings has reinforced its commitment to sustainability and community impact through a structured environmental awareness and tree planting initiative at Kuramo Junior College, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The program, executed under the TREXM Sustainability Club, combined environmental education with hands-on action engaging students not just as participants, but as active stewards of their environment.
At the core of the initiative was a simple but intentional design: move beyond awareness to ownership and continuity.
A total of 52 students were actively engaged and organized into 10 groups, each assigned responsibility for planting and maintaining a tree within the school premises. The exercise featured a mix of economically and environmentally significant species, including coconut, tropical almond, and mango trees: selected for their adaptability, soil stability benefits, and long-term ecological value.

Beyond the planting activity, the session incorporated interactive learning, peer engagement, and mentorship. Students participated in guided discussions on environmental sustainability, climate impact, and practical actions, with contributions from TREXM volunteers across engineering, operations, and communications functions.
Each group not only planted a tree but also named it and designated leaders responsible for its care introducing an embedded system of accountability designed to ensure long-term monitoring and growth.
This structured approach reflects a broader shift in how sustainability initiatives are conceived and executed. Rather than one-off interventions, the TREXM Sustainability Club is built as a recurring platform delivering quarterly programs that integrate education, action, and follow-through.

TREXM Holdings, a Nigerian company operating across the energy and industrial value chain, continues to prioritize sustainable growth alongside operational excellence. Through initiatives like this, the company is extending its impact beyond core business operations supporting the development of environmental consciousness at the community level.
The Kuramo Junior College program forms part of an ongoing effort to cultivate early-stage climate awareness and responsibility among young Nigerians, reinforcing the role of collective action in building a more sustainable future.
As global conversations increasingly emphasize the importance of shared responsibility in addressing environmental challenges, initiatives that embed participation and long-term stewardship at the grassroots level remain critical.
TREXM’s approach signals a clear position: sustainability is not only about infrastructure and industry it is also about people, mindset, and the systems that enable lasting impact.
